(Tickers: UNH, WLP, AET, CI, HUM, CVH, HNT, WCG, MGLN, AGP, HS, CNC, UAM, MOH, MDF, DIA, SPY, QQQQ, NYX, DOG, SDS, QLD)Is it "Yes we can," or "Sorry, but at least we tried?" Your Senate today seems poised to kill the Public Option from within its version of the Health Care Reform Bill. I do not know about you, but I am outraged today. WHAT ABOUT YOU ANYWAY? DO YOU HAVE A VOICE!? Fear not though, as the Senate is working on a plan that would still insure the uninsured poor, though through a tighter screen that would inevitably leave some people out in the cold.
Public Option Killed in Senate Health Care Bill
"Why don't we just execute everyone who cannot afford health care then, to make it easier for the national conscience to swallow?"
How could a bunch of cushy and comfortable Senators kill this important component of health care reform?! I think we need to raise hell this morning, in order to let our government know how important this basic human need is to all of us who give a damn about our brothers. It goes without saying that this is essential to those of us who have no other means of getting what citizens of other developed nations receive for free. Are we really the greatest nation on earth, or just the greatest for everyone but the poor? Why don't we just execute everyone who cannot afford health care then, to make it easier for the national conscience to swallow? Is that more acceptable to you America than treating their illnesses would be? Seek this answer deep inside yourselves this morning and call your Senators and let them know what you think.
See the list of Democratic Senators who are reportedly against the Public Option below.
It may be easy for the health care lobby to influence Senators, but they will have a harder time convincing the members of the House to short change thirty million Americans. Representatives of the House, you see, have their antennas well-attuned to what the nation demands. Senators perhaps spend too much time in DC, and forget who they represent and what they stand for, what this nation stands for if it really is "One Nation Under God."
Fear not, as the Senate is exploring other options that might still provide health care to those who cannot otherwise afford it. It may just be that these "other" ideas would be less costly than the "Public Option," while also making it more difficult for many Americans to qualify. The deal is that the government would negotiate with insurers for the sake of the uninsured, sort of like how they do now for federal government employees. The public option would not be available to all Americans it seems. I see qualifiers sneaking into this type of legislation, and it would inevitably leave some of us out in the cold and uninsured just as we are now. But guess what, this cheaper deal does not even satisfy my old Party.
Would Republicans (I'm Independent) rather we sweep the destitute under the rug? By doing so, we take for granted God's gift of life and his provision of life's essentials. We, rather, take responsibility for our own successes. We, therefore, determine that we have control over what occurs to us in our lives, that we have the power to achieve, and more importantly to avoid poverty. In fact, poverty and strife are so far out of this mindset that it is viewed an impossibility. This is a great mistake that many of us, if we are lucky, will likely learn the hard way. Those who would sweep health care reform under the rug and throw the poor into the rivers are ignoring the possibility of ever becoming needy themselves. It is an impossibility to those of you who would do this, and unfortunately, a lesson may be in store for you.
Call your Republican Senators and tell them how you feel about this basic need for your fellow man, and ask them if they care more about Americans and the poor, or about their health care lobby support. It's a given that most, if not all of Republican Senators stand against this amendment (tell me who does not below), but here below are the...
